Drawing on a long-standing tradition in Jesuit education, the International and Study Abroad Programs Office staff is committed to supporting and promoting global diversity as well as helping undergraduate students gain an understanding of some of the complexities that stem from our increasingly interconnected and interdependent world.

How do I apply to study abroad?

If you are interested in studying abroad, you can never start preparing too early. Investigate opportunities that interest you online, and make sure to make appointments with French department faculty and the study abroad office to find the best program for you. Do not hesitate to reach out to department members to learn about the opportunities available!

What is the price difference between studying abroad and studying on campus?

Exchange and partner programs with Fordham have the same tuition per semester as our New York campuses. If you continue to be eligible for financial aid, the aid will transfer over except room-specific aid, work-study, and Metro Grants. You may incur additional fees specific to your program of choice.

What exchange programs are available to me as a French student at Fordham?

The French department at Fordham is currently working to expand upon the abroad programs available to students. Currently, exchange partnerships include CUPA Paris College of Art, EDHEC, Sciences Po: Lille, Sciences Po: Reims, and France/Morocco/Senegal with Academic Programs Abroad. Do not hesitate to reach out to French professors to learn more about these opportunities and which might suit you best!

What do I need to know about being a French and Francophone Studies major and studying abroad?

A maximum of four courses taken abroad for one semester and a maximum of five courses taken abroad for one year may apply toward the French and Francophone Studies major. These courses must be approved by the French and Francophone Studies major advisor prior to studying abroad. Students cannot apply to study abroad programs without consulting French faculty first and discussing their program options. It must be noted that some study abroad courses require an advanced proficiency level before applying. Please also note that you may double count up to two courses to fulfill major requirements.

What do I need to know about being a French and Francophone Studies minor and studying abroad?

A maximum of two courses taken abroad for one semester may apply toward the French and Francophone Studies minor. These courses must be approved by the assigned departmental minor advisor prior to studying abroad. Please also note that you may double count up to two courses to fulfill minor requirements.
